libjpeg8-dev software package provides Independent JPEG Groups JPEG runtime library (dependency package), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libjpeg8-dev
libjpeg8-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libjpeg8-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libjpeg8-dev *
You will get with libjpeg8-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
